Chip Ganassi Racing Reflects on Milestones as 2024 Season Enters Closing Stretch

INDIANAPOLIS (Aug. 1, 2024) – As July ends, Chip Ganassi Racing is reflecting on major milestones and accomplishments for the team so far this NTT INDYCAR SERIES, IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and World Endurance Championship seasons.
CGR has six total victories in INDYCAR and IMSA, and with two drivers in the top-3 of the INDYCAR championship standings and its IMSA Cadillac V.Series-R is second in the championship. CGR and its partners are focused on continuing the success through the balance of the season.

Celebrating On-Track Success:
- Alex Palou has three wins so far this year in the No. 10 DHL and Ridgeline Lubricants Honda (Thermal $1 Million Challenge, Indianapolis GP, Laguna Seca) and leads the INDYCAR championship standings with five races remaining.
- CGR swept the IMSA and INDYCAR races at Long Beach in April when Sebastien Bourdais and Renger van der Zande won on Saturday in the Cadillac V.Series-R while Scott Dixon brought home the 57th win of his career in the No. 9 PNC Bank Honda to win on Sunday.
- Dixon also won at Detroit in June and sits third in the INDYCAR standings after tying Mario Andretti for most all-time podium finishes at Toronto last month. Dixon also continues his assault on AJ Foyt’s record of 67 IndyCar wins with his 57th and 58th wins this year.
- Marcus Armstrong scored his first career INDYCAR podium at Detroit in the No. 11 Root Insurance Honda, joining Dixon in the post-race celebrations, and rounded out a 3-4-5 CGR finish at Toronto in the No. 11 On The Run Honda.
- In the World Endurance Championship, the No. 3 Cadillac V.Series-R driven by Bourdais, Dixon and van der Zande qualified on the front row for the 24 Hours of Le Mans in June. The No. 2, driven by Earl Bamber, Alex Lynn and Palou, led laps in the race and finished seventh.
Rookies Reaching Milestones :
- Linus Lundqvist, driver of the No. 8 American Legion Honda, scored his first career INDYCAR podium in April at Barber Motorsports Park and then his first career pole in June at Road America. He currently leads the Rookie of the Year standings, 40 points ahead of Kyffin Simpson, driver of the No. 4 Journie Rewards Honda .
- Simpson’s first season in the return of the historic No. 4 to CGR includes setting the fastest lap during the opening round at St. Petersburg and leading laps in his first Indianapolis 500 in May.
Partner Highlights:
- DHL joined the CGR team for 2024 on the No. 10 car driven by Palou and has already celebrated two victories with the team – at the Indianapolis Grand Prix and then again at Laguna Seca in June.
- The American Legion collaborated with Netflix to promote “Unfrosted,” a film by Jerry Seinfeld, and debuted a Pop-Tart-themed livery for Lundqvist at Long Beach.
- PNC Bank launched its national Brilliantly Boring campaign, using Dixon as an example of someone so committed to the fine, “boring” details that they become great at their craft. PNC also continued powering the Women In Motorsports initiative, which welcomed its third class of interns to CGR in May.
- Armstrong drove an IU Simon Cancer Center Honda into the top five at the Indianapolis Grand Prix, wore Root Insurance colors for his podium finish in Detroit, and again at the Columbus-founded company’s home race at Mid-Ohio.
- Journie Rewards announced its Journie Driving Academy this summer, and they went all-out for the Indy Toronto, bringing all three drivers and their families to the track to meet Simpson and the CGR team .
Up Next: The INDYCAR SERIES begins its five-race sprint to the finish Saturday night, Aug. 17, with the Bommarito Automotive Group 500 at World Wide Technology Raceway in Madison, IL, near St. Louis. IMSA returns to action Sunday, Aug. 4 at Road America. WEC returns stateside Sunday, Sept. 1, for Lone Star Le Mans at Circuit of the Americas in Austin, TX.
