Two Wins = Guaranteed Title For Championship Leaders Pruett, Rojas

Scott Pruett and Memo Rojas (No. 01 TELMEX BMW) can guarantee a successful defense of their Daytona Prototype championship — and third in four years — by repeating as race winners at Watkins Glen International and Circuit Gilles Villeneuve.
With three races remaining, the defending champions hold a 29-point lead over Ricky Taylor and Max Angelelli (No. 10 SunTrust Chevrolet/Dallara). Back-to-back victories would expand that lead to 35 points entering the season finale at Mid-Ohio on Saturday, Sept. 17 — with a maximum of 35 points available at each event.
Should the TELMEX Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates duo stumble, SunTrust Racing and three other teams remain in striking distance. Taylor and Angelelli won the Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen in June, with Taylor enjoying a streak of winning the pole at five consecutive races.
Alex Gurney and Jon Fogarty (No. 99 GAINSCO Auto Insurance Chevrolet/Riley) are third in the points, with a victory at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca among podium finishes in the last four races.
The two Action Express Racing lineups are tied for fourth in the standings. JC France, Terry Bor-cheller and Joao Barbosa (No. 9 Action Express Racing Porsche/Riley) won at Virginia Interna-tional Raceway in May — snapping a six-race winning streak for Pruett and Rojas dating to 2010 — while David Donohue and Darren Law (No. 5 Action Express Racing Porsche Riley) have finished sixth or better in the last eight races.
