CNC Machine Tool Builder Okuma and Chip Ganassi Racing Renew Sponsorship
INDIANAPOLIS (Jan. 30, 2013) – Chip Ganassi Racing Teams, Inc. today announced a multi-year renewal of its agreement with CNC and machining technology leader Okuma America Corporation to continue as an associate sponsor of the No.9 and No.10 Indy cars driven by Scott Dixon and Dario Franchitti in the IZOD IndyCar Series, and the No.01 Daytona Prototype driven by Scott Pruett and Memo Rojas in the GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series.
As part of the renewal, the Indianapolis-based race teams will continue to utilize Okuma CNC and machining technology to construct the parts and equipment that have contributed to 15 championships and more than 125 race wins across Indy car and sports car racing.

Dario Picks up Where He Left Off: Four-time IZOD IndyCar Series Champion and three-time Indianapolis 500 Winner Franchitti returns to the team for a fifth season in 2013. Since joining the team in 2009, Franchitti delivered three consecutive IZOD IndyCar Series titles in four years, including two wins at the Indianapolis 500. He is one of only five drivers to win the Indianapolis 500 and the series title in the same season more than once. Franchitti is currently seventh on the all-time wins list (1909-2012) with 31 victories. By winning the 2012 Indianapolis 500, he became the 10th driver in history to win the race three times. The Scotland native has 247 starts under his belt in Indy car racing resulting in 31 wins, 30 poles, 112 top-five and 155 top-10 finishes (1997-2012). He is the winningest driver in U.S. open-wheel history from Great Britain.
Dixon in Championship Form: The two-time IZOD IndyCar Series Champion and 2008 Indianapolis 500 Winner returns in 2013 after scoring two wins on his way to a third-place finish in the overall standings in 2012. 2013 marks Dixon’s 12th year with the team – the longest tenure for a driver in team history (1990-Present). With his victory at Mid-Ohio last season, Dixon tied Rick Mears for 10th place on the all-time Indy Car wins list (1909-Present) with 29 victories. The New Zealand native has 201 starts in Indy car racing producing 29 wins, 18 poles, 98 top-five and 140 top-10 finishes (2001-Present).
Daytona Prototype Duo on Point: Fresh off the team’s fifth win in the Rolex 24 At Daytona last weekend, and after locking up a record fifth GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series Drivers’ Championship in 2012, veteran road racer Pruett will sit behind the wheel of the No.01 TELMEX Dinan-Prepared BMW Riley in his 10th season of Rolex Sports Car Series racing in 2013 alongside teammate Memo Rojas. The two continue their run in the Daytona Prototype class together as the most successful driving duo in series history.
