Chip Ganassi Racing got its weekend off to the best possible start, with defending GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series champions sweeping the front row for the 51st Rolex 24 at Daytona (Saturday, Live! SPEED, SPEED.com).
Scott Pruett claimed his third Daytona Prototype pole in the famed twice-around-the-clock endurance classic, wheeling his No. 01 Telmex Riley-BMW to a best time of 1:40.553.
Pruett edged out teammate, and two-time IndyCar Series champion Scott Dixon, by 0.093 seconds in the 15-minute qualifying session.
The impressive qualifying run puts team owner Chip Ganassi in prime position to claim its fifth Rolex 24 crown on Sunday.
Dane Cameron made it a BMW-powered 1-2-3, with his No. 42 Team Sahlen's Riley turning the third quickest time of the session. The California-native reeled off a 1:41.213 lap time.
